After 20 years in a toxic marriage and a painful divorce, I learned the hard way that the most important vow couples can make is the one they commit to before walking down the aisle. If I could go back, I would spend more time understanding myself, my family's generational history, and the unhealed wounds I was unknowingly carrying into my marriage.

I would also tell my 23-year-old self to slow down and truly invest time in understanding my future spouse, their background, and their history. This is forever.

As a follower of Jesus Christ, I understood the weight of making a covenant with God. Having to break that covenant was the most painful decision of my life. But through years of reflection, study, and confronting hard truths, I had a powerful revelation: each of us enters a relationship carrying wounds and emptiness, hoping our spouse will "fill and heal" them. When those unmet expectations aren't addressed, they often become the beginning of the end.

Join me as we explore how unhealed traumas impact our relationships and why the most important commitment you’ll ever make, is a great motivator to  start your healing journey.

My goal is for us to uncover the roots of our acquired and inherited wounds, commit to healing, and learn to love from a “healed heart.”

Whether you are preparing for marriage  or already married, my hope is that you will make this promise to your spouse: "I vow to heal."
